January is in full swing, and Downtown Miami and surrounding areas are as busy as
ever! Here are some ideas of what to do in Downtown this month:
One exciting idea would be to watch the Miami Heat at home while the weather is cool
and breezy. Miami Heat Games are played at the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami.
If you haven’t seen Jimmy Butler live an in action with the Miami Heat, you may be
running out of time to do so, as he may be traded by the Heat before the end of this
season. The remaining Heat Home games are:
1. January 17, 2025 – vs. Denver Nuggets
2. January 19, 2025 – vs. San Antonio Spurs
3. January 21, 2025 – vs. Portland Trail Blazers

Looking for some great Science Fiction Films?
Check out the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival on Saturday,
January 18 and Sunday January 19, 2025 at the James L. Knight Center. The film
‘Edge Of Space’ is being screened. The movie, about an Air Force test pilot is a live
action short film that was shortlisted for an Oscar award this year!
Craving some fresh food and a unique shopping opportunity?
On Sundays, the Vizcaya Farmers Market in Coconut
Grove offers up an opportunity to visit many different vendors to purchase local fruits
and vegetables and other yummy treats from 9:30am to 3:00pm. The market takes
place in the farm and village section of Vizcaya, which is located just off South Miami
Avenue, on the west side of the road. There is also a spot to drop off your compost and
the opportunity to take a guided tour of Vizcaya Village
Check out an exhibit at the Perez Art Museum
The Calida Rawles exhibit “Away with the Tides” will be leaving the PAM in the
beginning of February. This exhibit using acrylics on canvas showcases residents of
Overtown as they twist and turn in water. The artist also has photographs on display
which feature subjects experiencing the beauty of the ocean at Virginia Key Beach.
